Louis De Backere is a Flemish accordion player. He started at nine years old at the Stedelijk Conservatorium Brugge with Elke De Meester. He continued his music studies at the KASK & Conservatorium of Gent, with Philippe Thuriot. Over the past years, Louis followed masterclasses with various renownend international accordionists; Jef De Haes, Viacheslav Semionov, Teodoro Anzelotti etc.
Next to a master in music, Louis also holds a master in electromechanical engineering and a master in maritime science.
As a versatile musician, Louis can master all musical styles. However, Louis is intrigued by the mysterious world of renaissance music and its unique soundscape. He tries to combine this old music with contemporary pieces to create his own musical language.
